The Human Maze

I found myself in the middle of a busy street. The buildings were unfamiliar and I didn't recognise a face in the crowd. "What's going on?" I spun around, trying to make sense of my surroundings. I needed to move to a clear space and think through this.
I took a step forward and immediately everyone turned and stared at me. What was even stranger was that they didn't stop what they were doing. People kept walking, shopping, eating and talking to each other but they were all doing it while staring at my face. I froze and panicked. I slowly drew my foot back and the crowd ignored me once again. I tried to move in a different direction this time and took a step backwards. Heads spun! I screamed and ran, pushing through the staring crowd making sure to keep my eyes focused on the floor. I had no idea where I was headed but that did not matter! I needed to leave this crowd!
I ran down the street but there was no end in sight so I decided to take a left and hide in one of the shophouses. With my head still down I made a turn but couldn't find my way. I needed to see where I was going! I took a deep breath and looked up at the sky. Oh. My. God. The crowd was copying me now. Everyone was looking up at the sky. My heart raced as my thoughts ran wild. Was I in the middle of a cult?
Think! Think! Me, Think! All these dreams usually have a key. I would be able to leave this place once I figure out the key to this. I looked at my feet again and now the crowd was back to staring at my face. I needed to find a path, pattern or object to help me get out of this place. With another shuddering deep breath, I looked up and tried to see beyond the crowd and at the items being sold. I ran forward to check all the wares being sold but nothing stood out to me. Just then, I noticed a bearded man at a fruits stall, he too was just staring at me while cracking open coconuts but I was sure I saw the same guy making watermelon juice some 20 stalls back. I held my breath and studied the faces near me. A young man with a man bun, a blonde old lady with extremely red lipstick and a woman in her mid 30s with a tightly pulled back ponytail were the closest to me. "Remember them!" I told myself and ran 20 stalls forward again. These same 3 people were next to me again and the fruits stall owner was now peeling grapes! Then it clicked. I was stuck in a human maze. The bearded man was the key. I bent down and picked up a sharp parang. If I was right, this is what I had to do. I slashed the young man nearest to me and cracked his skull open. I used the tip of the knife to peel his skin back and thrust it into his brain and stirred it into mush. Immediately all the young fellows in the crowd disappeared into thin air.
"I found the way out now" I sighed with a smile.
